Hillfort Newsletter 07.10.22
7th October 2022
I hope that you are well. I haven’t written to you in this format for a couple of weeks – last week was overtaken by horrible flu symptoms, so it feels good just to be back in school and feeling something like myself again! When you come back in (after only three days) you realise how busy schools are and how much you miss – I was miffed to have missed the sale of David Walliams books on release date, for example!
Coming back in, its been great to be in lessons, seeing children, seeing adults. One example of this was on Tuesday when we had a really positive visit of our Maths provision. This was accompanied by our Director of Education (Mr Gould), which was nice – and he commented too on how pleased he was to see a production of Oliver Twist going on for Key Stage Two children in our hall.
Similarly, I could have commented on seeing children in their Bikeability lessons, or in their first Student Council meeting today – thanks Miss Kent! It’s also a personal pleasure to see so many children getting involved in the Academy after-school programme. From singing to judo, for so many children to be actively choosing to stay after a long school day…wow!
One communication since the last newsletter though has been the letter around gaining access to the National Online Safety website. Can I commend it to you – it has some really informative videos and guides as to how to keep your child safe online. Can I really promote that to you?
I’d also like to refer parents to our school behaviour policy. Hillfort children are well behaved – I’m not sending this to you for any other reason than it’s good to keep children’s behaviour at high levels so that we have a safe, happy school. The policy can be found at:

Whilst we’re talking about behaviour, on Monday we look forward to Richard Pomfrett from the Stay Safe partnership coming in. His workshops are always well received by the children, so we can’t wait to see a long standing friend of the school return and help our children to keep themselves safe!
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Kindest regards,
Tim Cook
You are invited to an open morning at Liskeard Hillfort Primary School on Saturday 22nd October 10am-12pm! You’ll get a chance to meet the teachers, have a look around our classrooms and garden area, and ask any questions you may have about our school.
No need to book, just come straight through to the school office.
We’ll see you soon!
If you are unable to make it, we will be hosting another open evening at our school on Monday 21st November 4:15-5:15pm.
Well done Miss Harris!! What an amazing achievement!
